7 p.m. – Adults

Marion Ross Performing Arts Center

THE STORY
Set in the little village of Antevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. The universal theme of tradition cuts across race, class, nationality, and religion barriers, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness. The show features iconic and beloved songs such as “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker.”

WHAT WILL AUDITIONS BE LIKE?
You will sign in and fill out an audition form to tell us about yourself. Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before — experience isn’t required. A script will be given to you at the auditions. You will be asked to read from the script and sing from sheet music, and learn a few dance steps, along with others who are auditioning. Anyone who would like to audition but is unable to attend in person on the audition nights should contact the director, Gordy Handeland, at 507-279-1014 before April 17.

WHAT ROLES ARE AVAILABLE?
There are roles available for men and women of various ages and there are a limited number of roles available for children in this play.

WHEN ARE REHEARSALS?
Not long after auditions, rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights, with some weekend involvement closer to the performance dates, which are June 20, 21, 22, 23M, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30M.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
ACT is a nonprofit, volunteer organization providing quality theatre and entertainment for our community. If you’re not interested in being on stage, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in other ways, such as backstage crew, building and painting sets, costumes, props, lights, sound, usher or in the box office. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about auditions, contact act@actonbroadway.com.
